As one of Alaska's best loved artists, Jon Van Zyle paints Alaska as he sees it in his memories. Having lived in and experienced Alaska for more than 40 years, his paintings of wildlife, rustic outdoor scenes, and the daily life of Alaskans brings a clear and true depiction when the brush touches the paper.

Jon is best known for his paintings of the Iditarod sled dog race, in which he competed two times. He has been named The Official Artist of the Iditarod and produces an annual poster and limited edition print in support of the race, and has been inducted into the Iditarod Hall of Fame.
